Vom 15. bis 18. Juli 2025 lädt die Graduiertenschule für Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften zum internationalen und interdisziplinären Symposium „Connection.Points: Intertwined and interconnected“ ein. Forscherinnen und Forscher aus Europa diskutieren interdisziplinäre, vernetzte Ansätze zu aktuellen globalen Themen und entwickeln neue Perspektiven für zukünftige Lösungen.

In their 1976 published chapter „Rhizom“ Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari challenge traditional hierarchical structures of knowledge, advocating for a rhizomatic-model of thought that embraces multiplicity, diversity, and non-linearity: “A rhizome ceaselessly establishes connections between semiotic chains, organizations of power, and circumstances relative to the arts, sciences, and social struggles.”

Especially in our times of multiple crises and global challenges, the exploration of multidirectional connections and entanglements seems to be more important than ever. Just as a rhizome creates connections that are not limited to a single form, direction or path, and challenges traditional epistemic structures, the interdisciplinary exploration of ‘connection points’ and interconnections encourages us to think across disciplinary boundaries in order to gain new approaches and insights.
