Innovative Teaching: Master's Students in Economics Participate in the First World Climate Game at the University of Augsburg.
For the first time, the departments of Urban Climate Resilience, Political Science with a focus on Climate Policy, and Environmental Economics jointly organized an interdisciplinary seminar at the Centre for Climate Resilience. From March 10 to 14, 2025, 36 students from political science, economics, and geography came together to tackle a fictional yet highly realistic climate crisis. At the beginning and end of the seminar, academic discussions were held on relevant theories and concepts from all three disciplines. This provided both a scientific foundation for the experience of playing the World Climate Game and an opportunity for interdisciplinary learning beyond traditional subject boundaries. The economics segment of the seminar was led by Dr. Patrick Hoffmann, the political science segment by Prof. Dr. Angela Oels, and the geography segment by Rouven Kaiser. Following its great success and positive evaluations, the seminar will be offered again for master's students from the three disciplines during the summer semester of 2025. For further information regarding the seminar please contact Dr. Patrick Hoffmann (patrick.hoffmann@uni-a.de).
